Exchange Compatibility

Frequently asked questions about which exchanges TradingForge supports, how to use multiple exchanges, and paper trading compatibility.

TradingForge connects to crypto exchanges via their official REST APIs. This page answers common questions about exchange support and compatibility.

Which exchanges are supported?

TradingForge currently supports the following ten exchanges:

  • Binance — Global leader with the deepest altcoin liquidity
  • Coinbase — Leading US-regulated exchange
  • Bybit — Popular globally with strong API support
  • Kraken — Long-established, US-accessible exchange
  • KuCoin — Wide altcoin selection
  • MEXC — Extensive token listings
  • Crypto.com — Global exchange with its own ecosystem
  • Gate.io — Broad altcoin coverage
  • Gemini — US-regulated, strong security focus
  • Bitstamp — One of the oldest European exchanges

New exchanges are added with application updates. Check the TradingForge release notes for the latest additions.

Which exchange is recommended for beginners?

Binance and Bybit are the most commonly used exchanges with TradingForge. Both have excellent API reliability, deep liquidity across hundreds of trading pairs, and competitive trading fees — all of which benefit automated DCA strategies. Their APIs are well-documented and respond quickly, which keeps TradingForge running smoothly.

For users based in the United States where Binance.com is restricted, Coinbase is a strong alternative. It is a fully regulated US exchange with a straightforward API setup process.

When choosing an exchange, consider trading fees carefully. DCA strategies place many orders over time, so even a small difference in maker/taker fees can add up significantly over hundreds of trades.

Can I use multiple exchanges simultaneously?

TradingForge is configured to use one exchange at a time per profile. Each profile stores its own exchange credentials, strategy settings, and trade history. You can create multiple profiles within TradingForge — for example, one profile for Binance and another for Bybit — and switch between them from the dashboard. Only one profile (and therefore one exchange) runs at a time.

Does paper trading work with all exchanges?

Yes. Paper trading mode is available for all supported exchanges. In paper trading mode, TradingForge uses real-time market data from your connected exchange to simulate trade execution but places no actual orders. For paper trading, your API key only needs read permissions — trading permissions are not required since no real orders are placed.

My exchange isn't on the list. Will it be added?

New exchanges are actively being added to TradingForge with each update. If there is a specific exchange you want supported, contact the team at tfcontact@tradingforge.net to make a request. You can also check the GitHub releases page at github.com/theshabobo/TradingForge for the latest exchange additions and to follow development progress.

Do I need to have funds on the exchange before connecting?

For live trading, yes — your exchange account needs a sufficient balance of the quote currency (typically USDT) to cover your configured base order and safety order sizes. TradingForge will not place orders if your free balance is insufficient.

For paper trading, no real funds are needed. You only need a valid API key with read permissions so TradingForge can access live price data. Your actual exchange balance is irrelevant in paper mode since no real orders are placed.

Exchange API Setup Guides

For detailed step-by-step instructions on creating API keys for each supported exchange, see the Exchange Setup section of this wiki. Individual guides are available for Binance, Coinbase, Bybit, and more — each covering the exact permissions to enable and any exchange-specific settings to be aware of.
