Downloading TradingForge

How to download the latest TradingForge installer from GitHub Releases.

TradingForge is distributed as a Windows installer via GitHub Releases. This page walks you through locating the correct download, handling the Windows SmartScreen prompt, and completing installation.

Auto-updates are not yet implemented in TradingForge. To stay on the latest version, periodically check the GitHub Releases page for new versions and re-run the installer to upgrade.

Download and Install Steps

1

Go to the GitHub Releases page

Open your browser and navigate to https://github.com/theshabobo/TradingForge/releases. This is the official source for all TradingForge releases.
2

Find the latest release

Look for the release tagged with the Latest badge — it appears in green next to the most recent release title. Avoid pre-release or beta builds unless you specifically want to test early features.
3

Download the installer

Expand the Assets section under the latest release. Click TradingForge-Setup.exe to download the installer. If a .zip archive is also listed, you may download that instead and extract it manually.
4

Save to a known location

Save the file to your Downloads folder or another location you can easily find. The installer is approximately 150 MB so it may take a moment depending on your connection speed.
5

Run the installer

Double-click TradingForge-Setup.exe to launch the installer. Windows may display a SmartScreen security warning — see the note below for how to proceed safely.
6

Follow the install wizard

The setup wizard will guide you through choosing an installation directory and creating shortcuts. The default install path is recommended for most users. Click Install to begin, then Finish when complete.
7

Launch TradingForge

After installation, TradingForge can be launched from the desktop shortcut or from the Start menu by searching for "TradingForge".

Windows SmartScreen Warning

Windows SmartScreen may display a warning that says "Windows protected your PC" when you run the installer. This is common for software from independent developers that has not yet accumulated enough download history to be auto-trusted by Microsoft. The TradingForge installer is safe to run.

To proceed past the SmartScreen warning:

1

Click "More info"

When the SmartScreen dialog appears, click the More info link. This reveals additional details about the file and an option to proceed.
2

Click "Run anyway"

A Run anyway button will appear at the bottom of the dialog. Click it to proceed with the installation.
If you are uncomfortable bypassing SmartScreen, you can verify the authenticity of the download by checking the SHA256 hash published alongside each release on GitHub and comparing it to the downloaded file.

Keeping TradingForge Up to Date

Because automatic updates are not yet available, the recommended approach is to watch the GitHub repository for new releases. You can do this by clicking the Watch button on the repository and selecting Custom → Releases to receive notifications when a new version is published.

When a new version is available, simply download the new installer and run it. The installer will update the existing installation in place. Your configuration profiles and trade data are preserved across updates.
